Chief Charms
Each of your six Chief Gear pieces holds three charms — 18 in all — and every charm levels from Lv. 1 to Lv. 16 on Charm Guides and Charm Designs, with Jewel Secrets joining near the top. This guide puts numbers on the climb; for which charms to push first, see Chief Gear & Charms priority.

What each level costs
Per charm, to reach each level from the one before:

The first four levels are single upgrades. From Lv. 5 on, each level is reached through several smaller sub-steps (58 upgrade steps in total to max a charm) — the calculator counts them for you. Jewel Secrets are needed from the climb to Lv. 12.
The top levels are most of the cost
To max one charm takes 5,035 Charm Guides, 5,150 Charm Designs and 260 Jewel Secrets. Reaching Lv. 10 uses only about 29% of those Charm Guides — the six levels from 11 to 16 take the rest, and all of the Jewel Secrets.
Maxing all 18 charms comes to 90,630 Charm Guides, 92,700 Charm Designs and 4,680 Jewel Secrets.
Spending charm materials well
- Bring every charm up through the cheap levels first. Levels up to 10 cost a fraction of the top levels, so raising all 18 charms there is far cheaper than maxing a few.
- Save Jewel Secrets for Lv. 12+. They're only needed for the top levels, so don't let anything else use them up.
- Check Guides and Designs together. The two run at different rates level to level; the one you're short of decides how far you can go.
