Daybreak Island Guide
Daybreak Island is your city's second home: a small island you decorate and grow, built around a Tree of Life whose levels hand out permanent troop and healing buffs. It costs no gems to play and runs on its own currency, Life Essence, so the whole system is about collecting that steadily and spending it in the right order.
The mechanics below follow the game's official help center. The costs, thresholds and buff values are community figures that two independent fan guides agree on; the game itself doesn't publish them. Check the in-game panel if something looks off after a patch.
Unlocking the island
At Furnace 19 a Dock appears in your city. Send survivors out from it and, after a voyage of a few days, they discover Daybreak Island. From then on you can visit it from the city at any time. If you are still below that Furnace level, the Building Calculator shows what the climb costs.
Life Essence: where it comes from
- Lumber Camps send workers to chop the trees that cover the island. Wood turns into Life Essence at 720 wood per point, and clearing a tree sometimes uncovers a chest.
- The Tree of Life produces Life Essence on its own — from about 120 an hour at level 1 up to 390 at level 10. Its storage fills after 12 hours and then stops, so collect at least twice a day.
- Alliance help: you can help alliance members' Trees and they can help yours, both for extra Life Essence. The help has a cooldown, so make it part of your daily alliance routine.
- The Timbermill: once every tree is cleared, the camps have nothing left to chop and a Timbermill takes over as the steady source.
Prosperity and decorations
Decorations are bought with Life Essence (about 3,000 for a Rare, 5,000 for an Epic and 10,000 for a Mythic one) and do two jobs:
- Each one placed adds Island Prosperity, and many also carry a small city-wide bonus. Bonuses from different decorations stack.
- Each decoration type has a placement limit, so extra copies of the same one don't add more — use them to upgrade that decoration instead, or sell spares back for part of their price.
Prosperity is a threshold, not a currency: it is never spent. Every Tree of Life upgrade checks that your Prosperity is high enough, then charges Life Essence. In practice that means you alternate — decorate until the next Tree level's Prosperity is met, then pour Life Essence into the Tree.
Tree of Life levels
| Level | Life Essence | Total so far | Prosperity needed | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | — | — | — | Healing Speed +30% |
| 2 | 500 | 500 | 150 | Deployment capacity (part of the +4,000 total) |
| 3 | 1,000 | 1,500 | 600 | Healing Speed +30% |
| 4 | 5,000 | 6,500 | 1,200 | Troops Defense +5% |
| 5 | 10,000 | 16,500 | 2,400 | Healing Speed +30% |
| 6 | 20,000 | 36,500 | 4,000 | Troops Attack +5% |
| 7 | 30,000 | 66,500 | 7,000 | Healing Speed +30% |
| 8 | 50,000 | 116,500 | 10,000 | Deployment capacity (part of the +4,000 total) |
| 9 | 70,000 | 186,500 | 15,000 | Troops Health +5% |
| 10 | 100,000 | 286,500 | 20,000 | Troops Lethality +5% |
Taking the Tree from level 1 to 10 costs 286,500 Life Essence in total, a third of it on the last level alone (100,000, with 20,000 Prosperity needed). What you get for it:
- Healing Speed +120% in total, in equal steps at levels 1, 3, 5, 7 — the early levels pay off quickly for anyone who fights often.
- +5% troop Defense, Attack, Health and Lethality, one stat each at the higher levels.
- +4,000 deployment capacity spread over two levels. Fan guides agree on the total but not on how it is split, so the table only marks which levels add it.
The Starry Lighthouse
At Tree level 10 the island shop starts selling the Starry Lighthouse blueprint (about 50,000 Life Essence) and the construction contracts that upgrade it, on a weekly purchase limit. Fully upgraded it adds around +10% Lethality and +10% Health — the island's biggest single combat bonus, and a long-term goal rather than a quick win.
A simple order of play
- Unlock the island as soon as your Furnace allows — production only starts once you are there.
- Upgrade a Lumber Camp early; faster chopping means more Life Essence for everything else.
- Collect the Tree's storage before it caps, and trade help with your alliance every day.
- Buy and place decorations until the next Tree level's Prosperity is met, then level the Tree. Repeat.
- Use duplicate decorations to upgrade the ones you have instead of leaving them in storage.
- After Tree level 10, save for the Lighthouse and buy its contracts every week.
