Crazy Joe

In Crazy Joe, your alliance defends against 20 waves of Crazy Joe's bandits. Most waves hit every member's city; a few hit only the players who are online, and two go straight for the Alliance HQ. You score points for the bandits your troops defeat — so the event rewards being in the right place, with the right troops, at the right wave.

When it runs

Crazy Joe runs every two weeks, on the Tuesday and Thursday of cycle weeks 2 and 4 — the King of the Icefield and SvS prep weeks of the event calendar. Each alliance picks its own start time on those days, so check with your R4s.

The waves

WavesWho gets attacked
1–6Every member's city
7Only members who are online — extra points
8–9Every member's city
10The Alliance HQ
11–13Every member's city
14Only members who are online — extra points
15–16Every member's city
17Only members who are online — extra points
18–19Every member's city
20The Alliance HQ

Three waves deserve planning:

  • Waves 7, 14, 17 only attack members who are online, and they're worth extra points. If you can only be on for part of the event, be on for these.
  • Waves 10 and 20 skip the cities and attack the Alliance HQ. Points come from defending the HQ, so send reinforcements there before those waves arrive.

Defending vs reinforcing

You can earn points two ways — defending your own city, or reinforcing an alliance member (or the HQ). They don't pay the same:

  • Kills while defending your own city score full points.
  • Kills while reinforcing someone else score 50% of that.

Because reinforcing pays half, the sensible default is to keep enough of your own troops home to defend your city for as long as it's being attacked, and reinforce with what's left over.

When your city is breached

If your city is breached 2 times, Crazy Joe stops attacking it. That isn't the end of your event — you can still earn points by reinforcing alliance members and the HQ. Once your city drops out, move your troops to where the fighting still is.

Troops and timing

  • Which troop mix holds best is community strategy, not game data. The March Formation calculator includes a common Crazy Joe city defense formation as a starting point.
  • If your alliance uses the WOS Assistant Discord bot, a leader can add Crazy Joe from the event-cycle sync (one reminder for each of its two days) or set a reminder with /reminder preset (Crazy Joe is one of the presets) so nobody misses the start — or waves 7, 14, 17.

Checklist

  1. Be online for waves 7, 14, 17.
  2. Keep your own troops home while your city is still being attacked — that's where kills score full points.
  3. Reinforce the Alliance HQ before waves 10 and 20.
  4. After 2 breaches, switch to reinforcing.
